摘要:An arrangement for determining a signal spectrum of a wideband digital audiosignal in an adaptive bitallocation system, including a signal splitting unit for splitting thewideband digital audio signal into M narrow band sub signals (SB.sub.m), each one of theM sub signals being representative of a component of the wideband digital audio signalwhich is present in a corresponding one of M adjacent substantially non- overlappingnarrow bands in the frequency band of the wideband digital audio signal; and a,calculating unit for each time determining from the M sub signal, information which isrepresentative of the signal spectrum of the wideband digital audio signal, wherein M isan integer larger than one. The calculating unit includes a transformation unit for carryingout on each of the sub signals a time-to-frequency transform based signal processing soas to obtain the information representative of the signal spectrum of the widebanddigital audio signal. The time-to- frequency transform based processing can be a Fouriertransform.
